Executive Board Members
Akiko McClain
PRESIDENT
Akiko (Ako) McClain was previously the Supervising Criminal Intelligence Analyst at the Philadelphia District Attorney’s Office, where she facilitated communication between law enforcement partners relating to criminal intelligence. Some of her work involved coordinating law enforcement efforts towards drivers of crime, supporting prosecutions and investigations, and analyzing prosecution data. Being one of the founding members of the Intelligence Unit established in 2021, she played a pivotal role in shaping its success.
Her journey in the field of criminal justice began first as a Victim/Witness Coordinator with the Philadelphia District Attorney’s Office, where she provided crucial support to victims and witnesses, ensuring their voices were heard in the pursuit of justice. Prior to this, she served as a dedicated Victim/Witness Advocate with the Anti-Violence Partnership of Philadelphia, where she worked tirelessly to empower and assist individuals affected by violence. Ako holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Criminal Justice from Temple University. Additionally, she furthered her education and expertise by obtaining a Master’s degree in Intelligence and Crime Analysis from Saint Joseph’s University, equipping her with the advanced knowledge and skills required to excel in the field of criminal intelligence.
Ako’s passion for justice and commitment to enhancing the effectiveness of law enforcement drive her work each day. With a strong academic foundation and years of experience in victim advocacy and criminal intelligence, she is dedicated to making a positive impact on the criminal justice system and the communities it serves.
In her spare time, you can find Ako teaching dance classes or bartending at her neighborhood bar.
Amanda DiStefano
VICE PRESIDENT OF ADMINISTRATION
Amanda DiStefano is currently a Criminal Analyst for the Department of Homeland Security in Philadelphia. Previously, Amanda spent three years as an Intelligence Analyst III at Liberty Mid-Atlantic HIDTA, where she was primarily responsible for conducting strategic analysis of crime and public health data to assess threats in the Greater Philadelphia Area. This analysis was used to provide insight for counter drug strategic planning. Additionally, Amanda provided investigative support to law enforcement agencies as well as served as a liaison among law enforcement and public health partners to promote collaboration and information-sharing throughout Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Delaware.
Amanda graduated with a master’s degree in criminology from the University of Pennsylvania in 2020 and received a dual bachelor’s degree from Drexel University in 2019.
In her spare time, you can find her cheering on her Philly sports teams or at a concert.
Kelly Jones
Vice President of Membership
Kelly Jones is a Criminal Intelligence Analyst with the Maryland State Police. She is assigned to the Western Maryland Information Center (WMIC) in Frederick. Kelly provides direct analytical support to Law Enforcement in the Western Maryland area. Kelly has a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice and Criminology from the University of Maryland – College Park. She also has a master’s degree in Homeland Security Management from the University of Maryland – University College.
Christine Garvin
SECRETARY
Christine Garvin is currently the crime analyst for the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office [Westminster, Maryland]. She began her career in the law enforcement field in 2004, as an Administrative Assistant, assisting the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office and Detention Center in a multitude of tasks. Some of these duties included records, compiling statistical information, transcription of meeting minutes, assisting personnel with HR related tasks as well as assisting in Public Information Act & Freedom of Information Act Requests. In 2014, Christine became the first crime analyst for the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office and continues to be the only analyst for the entire county. She assists not only the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office but also all the municipality law enforcement agencies within the county with any analysis needs. Part of her duties entails she works closely with other agencies, within the county and throughout multiple geographic regions, sharing intel to link and solve cases. Christine’s duties do not stop at crime analysis, she is also responsible for conducting traffic analysis as well as administrative analysis. In addition to her role as crime analyst, Christine is also one of two county administrators for pawn and scrap items. In this role, she ensures businesses are compliant with the state and county laws as well as reporting their transactions accurately and timely. Christine’s work in analysis has led to the linking of numerous cases, successful identification and prosecution of individuals engaged in criminal activity.
Christine holds a Master of Science degree in criminal justice with a concentration in crime analysis from Tiffin University in Ohio, as well as a Bachelor of Arts degree in criminal justice from Mount St Mary’s University in Emmitsburg, MD. She has been recognized twice as Employee of the Year. First was in 2006 in her role as an administrative assistant for the Carroll County Detention Center and second was in 2016, in her role as crime analyst for the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office. Furthermore, she has received two Certificates of Appreciations from the Sheriff’s Office, both in 2008.
In her spare time, Christine enjoys managing her family horse farm, providing riding lessons and spending time outdoors.
Adrienne Hoffman-Lewis
TREASURER
As a crime analyst within the Community Services Division at the Harrisburg Bureau of Police, Adrienne provides statistical analysis, maps, and analytical reports to internal and external stakeholders. Adrienne also manages the implementation of the Group Violence Intervention strategy, a new initiative in Harrisburg aiming to decrease violence in the city. She played a key role in acquiring the funding from the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency to implement the strategy and continues to manage all aspects of the grant.
Prior to working at the Harrisburg Bureau of Police, Adrienne worked at the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children for almost 10 years. She was most recently a project specialist in the Family Advocacy Division at the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children. In this role, she managed the
Family Advocacy Outreach Network by locating, recruiting, and encouraging therapists, support groups, and others to provide pro bono or sliding scale assistance to families. Adrienne also assisted in the creation of policies, programs, and procedures to enhance the role of the division and was certified as an OKR expert. Adrienne began her career at the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children as a research analyst in the Case Analysis Division, where she completed case comparisons of missing, recovered deceased, and unidentified children for investigations of offenders at the request of law enforcement.
Before joining the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children, Adrienne was a research fellow with the FBI’s Behavioral Analysis Unit 3, Crimes Against Children. As a research fellow, she provided operational support and analysis for large-scale active investigations as well as prepared and created a protocol for use in a study of child pornography offenders. She was a recipient of the 2011-2012 Psi Chi/FBI National Center for the Analysis of Violent Crime’s Internship Grant.
Adrienne graduated magna cum laude with a bachelor of arts in Psychology from the California State University of Los Angeles. She also holds a master’s degree in Forensic Psychology from Marymount University, where she was an adjunct faculty member and recipient of the Outstanding Alumni Award in 2018.
